Gibbs Model Based 3D Motion and Structure Estimation for Object-Based Video Coding Applications
Alatan, Abdullah Aydın; Onural, Levent (Springer, London/Berlin , 1997-11-01)
Motion analysis is essential for any video coding scheme. A moving object in a 3D environment can be analyzed better by a 3D motion model instead of 2D models, and better modeling might lead to improved coding efficiency. Gibbs formulated joint segmentation and estimation of 2D motion not only improves the performance of each stage, but also generates robust point correspondences which are necessary for rigid 3D motion estimation algorithms. Estimated rigid 3D motion parameters of a segmented object are use...
Cramer Rao bounds and instrument optimization for slitless spectroscopy
Öktem, Sevinç Figen; Davila, Joseph (2013-05-26)
Spectroscopy is a fundamental diagnostic technique in physical sciences with widespread application. Multi-order slitless imaging spectroscopy has been recently proposed to overcome the limitations of traditional spectrographs, in particular their small instantaneous field of view. Since an inversion is required to infer the physical parameters of interest from slitless spectroscopic measurements, a rigorous theory is essential for quantitative characterization of their performance. In this paper we develop...
Shape-invariance approach and Hamiltonian hierarchy method on the Woods-Saxon potential for l not equal 0 states
Berkdemir, Cueneyt; BERKDEMİR, Ayşe; Sever, Ramazan (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2008-03-01)
An analytically solvable Woods-Saxon potential for l not equal 0 states is presented within the framework of Supersymmetric Quantum Mechanics formalism. The shape-invariance approach and Hamiltonian hierarchy method are included in calculations by means of a translation of parameters. The approximate energy spectrum of this potential is obtained for l not equal 0 states, applying the Woods-Saxon square approximation to the centrifugal barrier term of the Schrodinger equation.
Re-thinking historiography on Ottoman mosque architecture: nineteenth century provincial sultan mosques
Katipoğlu Özmen, Ceren; Erzen, Jale Adile; Department of Architecture (2014)
The main objective of this dissertation is to propose an alternative historiography on the 19th century Ottoman mosque architecture, free from the biased Eurocentric paradigms, by means of including the ‘unseen’ actors of this history, namely the disregarded provincial mosques. Provincial mosques constituting the case studies of the dissertation, point out to a previously neglected part of historiography by changing the emphasis from the capital to the provinces. Within the scope of this dissertation the fo...
