Influence of ion implantation on structural and photoconductive properties of Bridgman grown GaSe single crystals
KARABULUT, ORHAN; Parlak, Mehmet; Turan, Raşit; SERİNCAN, UĞUR; Akınoğlu, Bülent Gültekin (Wiley, 2006-03-01)
The structure and temperature dependent spectral photoconductivity of as-grown and N-and Si-implanted GaSe single crystals have been studied. It was observed that post-annealing results in a complete recovery of the crystalline nature that was moderately reduced upon implantation. The band edge is shifted in the implanted sample which is attributed to the structural modifications and continuous shallow levels introduced upon implantation and annealing. Our calculations showed that the trap density is increa...
Influence of ground motion scaling methods on seismic response of highway bridges
Gözütok Gündüz, Merve; Yakut, Ahmet; Yılmaz, Mustafa Tolga; Department of Earthquake Studies (2022-8-29)
Seismic behavior of bridges is a vital issue for all earthquake prone countries. Accurate seismic analysis of bridges is important because bridges are one of the most important transportation networks in Turkiye which is an earthquake prone country located on three main fault lines as Northern Anatolia Fault, East Anatolia Fault and West Anatolia Fault. In engineering practice in Turkiye there are three main specifications which are AASHTO LRFD Design Specifications for Bridge Design, Eurocodes and Turkish ...
Influence of the nonlinear behavior of semi-rigid connections on the analysis of low-rise steel framed structures
Karakaş, Zafer; Sarıtaş, Afşin; Department of Civil Engineering (2017)
In this thesis, the influence of several parameters to hysteretic behavior of semi-rigid connections on general response of low-rise special moment resisting frames (SMRF) is investigated. Two different types of low-rise structures, which are presented in SAC steel project, are taken into account. 1997 NEHRP (FEMA 1997a) and 1997 AISC provisions compliant flexible (lower bound) and rigid (upper bound) frames are selected to examine the influence of nonlinear behavior of connections on structural system resp...
Influence of keratocytes and retinal pigment epithelial cells on the mechanical properties of polyester-based tissue engineering micropatterned films
Zorlutuna, Pinar; Builles, Nicolas; Damour, Odile; Elsheikh, Ahmed; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat (2007-08-01)
In this paper the mechanical properties of micropatterned polyester films prepared to serve as tissue engineering scaffolds of cornea were examined. Films were prepared by solvent casting of blends of poly(L-lactide-co-D,L-lactide) and poly(3-hydroxybutyric acid-co-3-hydroxyvaleric acid), on a micropatterned silicon template. They were seeded with keratocytes or retinal pigment epithelia] cells and subjected to tensile testing to assess the contribution of cells and the deposited extra-cellular matrix (ECM)...
Influence of deformable geofoam bufers on the static and dynamic behaviors of cantilever retaining walls
Ertuğrul, Özgür Lütfi; Özkan, M. Yener; Department of Civil Engineering (2011)
Static and dynamic interaction mechanism of the retained soil-compressible geofoam buffer and yielding retaining structures requires further investigation. The present study, initiated on this motive, discusses the results of 1-g physical model tests and numerical analyses of cantilever retaining walls with and without deformable geofoam buffers between the wall and cohesionless granular backfill. 0.7m high walls with various wall thicknesses were utilized in the physical modeling. Dynamic tests were carrie...
