Vortex states in mesoscopic single crystals Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+delta in high magnetic fields
Mirkovic, J.; Kubo, Y.; Saitou, T.; Kakeya, I.; Yamamoto, T.; Oral, Ahmet; Kadowaki, K. (2009-08-01)
The c-axis resistivity measurements were performed in the vicinity of the ab-plane in order to investigate the interaction between Josephson vortices and pancake vortices in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+delta mesoscopic single crystals. It was found that the angular dependence of the c-axis resistivity drastically changes in high magnetic field regime. The vortex lock-in transition becomes considerably broad in high magnetic fields, while the angular dependence of resistance exhibits the sharp lock-in features in low magn...
Vortex imaging with varying temperature revealed by SHPM on Bi(2)Sr(2)CaCu(2)O8+y
Mihalache, V.; Dede, M.; Oral, Ahmet; Sandu, V. (2008-04-01)
Scanning Hall probe microscopy with an effective spatial resolution of similar to 1 mu m has been used to investigate the vortex structures in superconducting Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+delta single crystals in the temperature range 77.3-81.3 K and zero applied field (in the presence of the earth field). The vortex images were obtained in real time mode as the temperature increased slowly for 3.36 h. At 77.3 K, the vortices were arranged in a chain structure. With the increase of the temperature, two jumps in the vortex...
Vortex Formation and Force Generation Mechanisms of the DelFly II in Hovering Flight
Tenaglia, A; Perçin, Mustafa; Van Oudheusden, Bas W.; Deng, Shuanghou; Remes, Bart (2014-08-12)
This paper addresses the unsteady aerodynamic mechanisms in the hovering flight of the DelFly II flapping-wing Micro Aerial Vehicle (MAV). Stereoscopic Particle Image Velocimetry (Stereo-PIV) were carried out around the wings at a high framing rate. Thrust-force was measured to investigate the relation between the vortex dynamics and the aerodynamic force generation. The results reveal that the Leading-Edge-Vortex (LEV), as well as the high flexibility of the wings, have a major effect on thrust generation....
Vortex generator design for subsonic inlets
Nasuhbeyoğlu, Batuhan; Albayrak, Kahraman; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2014)
In this thesis, numerical investigation of the benefits of vortex generators control on the performance of S-shaped inlets has been performed. This study is divided into two main parts. In the first part, a diffusive S-shaped inlet is examined and the numerical analyses results are compared with the experimental results. Three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations are solved and three different turbulence models which are Realizable k-ε, Standard k-ω, and Spalart-Allmaras methods are used. Distortion coeffici...
Vortex imaging in superconducting films by Scanning Hall Probe Microscopy
Oral, Ahmet; HUMPHREYS, R G; HENİNİ, M (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1996-12-01)
We have used a low noise Scanning Hall Probe Microscope (SHPM) to study vortex structures in superconducting films. The microscope has high magnetic field (similar to 2.9 x 10(-8)T/root Hz at 77 K) and spatial resolution, similar to 0.85 mu m. Magnetic field profiles of single vortices in High T-c YBa2Cu3O7-delta thin films have been successfully measured and the microscopic penetration depth of the superconductor has been extracted as a function of temperature. Flux penetration into the superconductor has ...
