Electrical current generation in microbial electrolysis cells by hyperthermophilic archaea Ferroglobus placidus and Geoglobus ahangari
Yılmazel Tokel, Yasemin Dilşad; Kim, Kyoung-Yeol; Holmes, Dawn E.; Logan, Bruce E. (2018-02-01)
Few microorganisms have been examined for current generation under thermophilic (40-65 degrees C) or hyperthermophilic temperatures (>= 80 degrees C) in microbial electrochemical systems. Two iron-reducing archaea from the family Archadoglobaceae, Ferroglobus placidus and Geoglobus ahangari, showed electro-active behavior leading to current generation at hyperthermophilic temperatures in single-chamber microbial electrolysis cells (MECs). A current density (j) of 0.68 +/- 0.11 A/m(2) was attained in F. plac...
Electrical transport in metal oxide semiconductor capacitors
Arıkan, Mustafa; Turan, Raşit; Department of Physics (2004)
The current transport mechanisms in metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) capacitors have been studied. The devices used in this study have characterized by current-voltage analyses. Physical parameter extractions and computer generated fit methods have been applied to experimental data. Two devices have been investigated: A relatively thick oxide (125 nm) and an ultra-thin oxide (3 nm) MOS structures. The voltage and temperature dependence of these devices have been explained by using present current transport m...
ELECTRICAL RESISTIVITIES OF LIQUID AL-MG AND AL-CU ALLOYS
KHAJIL, TMA; Tomak, Mehmet (1989-05-01)
The electrical resistivity of liquid Al−Mg and Al−Cu alloys is calculated using both the Faber-Ziman and «2k F» scattering theories. The partial structure factors are described by the hard-sphere system. The calculated resistivity values are in qualitative agreement with available experimental data.
Electrical resistivities of liquid Li-Sn and Na-Pb alloys
Khajil, T. M. A.; Tomak, Mehmet (American Physical Society (APS), 1988-06-01)
The resistivity of liquid Li-Sn and Na-Pb alloys is calculated using the theory of ‘‘2 k F ’’ scattering theory recently developed by Morgan et al. The partial structure factors are described by the mean-spherical approximation for a system of hard spheres with Yukawa tails. The calculated resistivity values are in very good agreement with experiment. The improvement over the widely used Faber-Ziman formalism is impressive.
