Utilization of pretreated molasses for serine alkaline protease production with recombinant Bacillus species
Calik, G; Pehlivan, N; Kalender, N; Ozdamar, TH; Çalık, Pınar (Informa UK Limited, 2003-05-01)
Recombinant Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, Bacillus cereus, Bacillus subtilis , and Bacillus licheniformis were used for the production of serine alkaline protease (SAP) utilizing chemically and/or physically pretreated molasses. The highest enzyme activity was obtained with r- Bacillus subtilis , with the complex medium involving physically treated molasses having 20 kg m(-3) initial sucrose concentration in small-scale, agitation- and heating rate-controlled bioreactors at t=63 h. Effects of oxygen transfer ...
Adaptation of turbulence models to a navier-stokes solver
Gürdamar, Emre; Aksel, Mehmet Haluk; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2005)
This thesis presents the implementation of several two-equation turbulence models into a finite difference, two- and three-dimensional Navier-Stokes Solver. Theories of turbulence modeling and the historical development of these theories are briefly investigated. Turbulence models that are defined by two partial differential equations, based on k-? and k-? models, having different correlations, constants and boundary conditions are selected to be adapted into the base solver. The basic equations regarding t...
Contributions of natural sources to high PM10 and PM2.5 events in the eastern Mediterranean
Koçak, Mustafa; Kubilay, Nilgun (2007-06-01)
In total 562 daily PM10 and PM2.5 samples were collected from April 2001 to April 2002 at a rural site (Erdemli) located on the coast of the Eastern Mediterranean. The annual mean PM10 and PM2.5 levels were 36.4 +/- 27.8 and 9.7 +/- 5.9 mu g m(-3), respectively. PM10 and PW2.5 concentrations indicated orders of magnitude change from day to day (PM10 = 2-326 mu g m(-3); PM2.5 = 0.5-28 mu g m(-3)). The highest levels of PM10 were observed during the transition period (March, April and May) due to mineral dust...
Contribution of the satellite-data driven snow routine to a karst hydrological model
Çallı, Süleyman Özdemir; Çallı, Kübra Özdemir; Yılmaz, Mustafa Tuğrul; ÇELİK, MEHMET (2022-04-01)
Snow recharge is an important dominant hydrological process in the high altitude mountainous karstic aquifer systems. In general, widely used karst-dedicated hydrological models (e.g., KarstMod, Varkarst) do not include a snow routine in the model structure to avoid increasing the number of model parameters while representing the complex hydrological process. As a result, recharge process is not represented well, which questions the optimality of the results that can be obtained under available datasets. Th...
