© 2018 IEEE.Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) that exploits the differences of transmission powers of users or power domain NOMA is an attractive technology to meet the increasing demands of 5G network users. In this paper, a multiuser diversity gain analysis for power domain NOMA is introduced to compare the reliability of various power transmission methods in case of uplink communications. Accordingly, a power transmission scheme that ensures a certain quality of user experience (QoE) for all users is compared with the power back-off transmission scheme inherited from LTE. The results show that the QoE based power transmission can exploit the diversity gain and has much lower symbol error rate than the power back-off method for both ideal successive interference cancellation (SIC) and practical imperfect SIC at the receiver.

Concurrency issues in rule-based Network Intrusion Detection Systems
GÜRKAN, MEHMET ATAKAN; Şener, Cevat (2008-01-01)
As the bandwidth of present networks gets larger than the past, the demand of Network Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDS) that function in real time becomes the major requirement for high-speed networks. If these systems are not fast enough to process all network traffic passing, some malicious security violations may take role using this drawback. In order to make that kind of applications schedulable, someconcurrency mechanism is introduced to the general flowchart of their algorithm. The principal aim is ...
Reroute sequence planning in multiprotocol label switching networks
Özbilgin, İzzet Gökhan; Bazlamaçcı, Cüneyt Fehmi; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2004)
The growth of the Internet has caused the development of new protocols that enable IP networks to be engineered efficiently. One such protocol, Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) enables IP datagrams in backbone networks to be forwarded based on the label switching forwarding paradigm. In MPLS networks, rerouting of Label Switching Paths (LSPs) can be needed in order to attain a better resource utilization in the network. In this case, a sequence of LSPs has to be found for their one by one reconfiguratio...
Software implementations of QoS scheduling algorithms for high speed networks /
Pehlivanlı, Aydın; Schmidt, Şenan Ece; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2015)
The end to end Quality of Service (QoS) support for the dominating multimedia traffic in the contemporary computer networks is achieved by implementing schedulers in the routers and deploying traffic shapers. To this end, realistic modeling and simulation of these components is essential for network performance evaluation. The first contribution of this thesis is the design and implementation of a C++ simulator QueST (Quality of Service simulaTor) for this task. QueST is a modular cycle accurate simulator w...
Network-wide energy efficiency in wireless networks with multiple access points
Ozel, Omur; Uysal, Elif (2013-10-01)
This paper presents a distributed mechanism for improving the overall energy efficiency of a wireless network where users can control their uplink transmit power targeted to the multiple access points in the network. This mechanism lets the network achieve a trade-off between energy efficiency and spectral efficiency through the use of suitably designed utility functions. A user's utility is a function of throughput and average transmission power. Throughput is assumed to be a sigmoidal function of signal-t...
GreenSlice: An Energy-Efficient Secure Network Slicing Framework
Akin, Ozan; Gulmez, Umut Can; Sazak, Ozan; Yagmur, Osman Ufuk; Angın, Pelin (2022-02-01)
The fifth generation of telecommunication networks comes with various use cases such as Enhanced Mobile Broadband, Ultra-Reliable and Low Latency Communications and Massive Machine Type Communications. These different types of communications have diverse requirements that need to be satisfied while they utilize the same physical infrastructure. By leveraging Software Defined Network (SDN) and Virtual Network Function (VNF) technologies, the 5G network slicing concept can provide end-to-end logical networks ...
