Evaluation of the radiative recombination mechanism in Si nanocrystals embedded in silica matrix
Righini, Marcofabio; Gnoli, Andrea; Razzari, Luca; Serincan, Ugur; Turan, Raşit (American Scientific Publishers, 2008-02-01)
We report measurements of the temperature dependence of photoluminescence (PQ life-time and efficiency of Si nanocrystals (Si-Nc) embedded in silica matrix. We use a practical technique based on lock-in acquisition that allows us to simultaneously evaluate, at each emission-energy, intensity and decay-time of the detected signal. Samples are prepared by Silicon-ion implantation in a SiO2 layer followed by thermal annealing. The implantation dose of Si ions ranges between 2 x 10(16) cm(-2) and 2 x 10(17) cm(...
Determination of trapping parameters of thermoluminescent glow peaks of semiconducting Tl2Ga2S3Se crystals
IŞIK, MEHMET; YILDIRIM, TACETTİN; Hasanlı, Nızamı (2015-07-01)
Thermoluminescence (TL) properties of Tl2Ga2S3Se layered single crystals were researched in the temperature range of 290-770 K. U glow curve exhibited two peaks with maximum temperatures of similar to 373 and 478 K. Curve fitting, initial rise and peak shape methods were used to determine the activation energies of the trapping centers associated with these peaks. Applied methods were in good agreement with the energies of 780 and 950 meV. Capture cross sections and attempt-to-escape frequencies of the trap...
Analysis of parameters of coaxial dielectric barrier discharges in argon flow at atmospheric pressure
Li, Hui; Yuan, Chengxun; Kudryavtsev, Anatoly; Astafiev, Aleksandr; Bogdanov, Evgeny; Katircioglu, T. Yasar; Rafatov, İsmail (2021-04-01)
This work deals with the numerical and experimental investigation of atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharges (DBDs). In the experiment, the current and voltage of DBD sustained in an argon flow in coaxial discharge cell are measured. Numerical models are based on the drift-diffusion theory of gas discharges. Different modelling approaches, where the electron kinetics is determined on the basis of the Maxwellian electron energy distribution function (EEDF), vs models with more realistic EEDF obtai...
Evaluation of magnetocaloric behavior and refrigeration performance of Gd3Co10Al87 nanostructured thin film alloy with multiple Curie temperatures
Bayer, Özgür; Baghaei Oskouei, Seyedmohsen; PAT, SUAT (2023-04-01)
The Gd3Co10Al87 thin film was investigated since it contains a higher atomic rate of aluminum, an inexpensive, recyclable, and abundant material. A thermionic vacuum arc system deposited Gd3Co10Al87 nanostructured thin film, and its surface and magnetic properties were analyzed. Mean grain dimension was measured as 30 nm and 50 nm, with the grain homogeneously distributed according to field emission scanning electron microscopy analyses. The film thickness was measured as 220 nm in cross-section field emiss...
EVALUATION OF TRANSVERSE SHEAR MODULI OF COMPOSITE SANDWICH BEAMS THROUGH THREE-POINT BENDING TESTS
Şener, Özgün; ATALAY, OĞUZ; ATASOY, MERT; Kayran, Altan (2018-11-15)
Transverse shear moduli of the sandwich core and flexural stiffness of all-composite sandwich constructions are determined with three-point beam bending tests, and compared with the analytical and finite element analysis solutions. Additionally, Digital Image Correlation (DIC) system is employed to validate the experimental results by monitoring the displacements. The effect of orientation of the composite core material with respect to the beam axis on the shear modulus of the core material itself, flexural...
