Investigation of effect of kaolin addition on combustion characteristic of olive residue
Batır, Özge; Külah, Görkem; Selçuk, Nevin; Department of Chemical Engineering (2017)
In this thesis study, effect of kaolin addition on combustion characteristic of olive residue was investigated by using thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) combined with Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometer in parallel with ash characteristics by X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). The experiments were carried out by burning olive residue with 2%, 4% and 8% by wt. kaolin at 900˚C. Results reveal that addition of kaolin leads to decrease in rate of weight loss during char combustion ...

Investigation of the effects of high hydrostatic pressure on the functional properties of pea protein isolate
Kalayci, Asuhan; Özel, Barış; Öztop, Halil Mecit; Alpas, Hami (2022-01-01)
This study investigates the effects of high hydrostatic pressure (HHP) on some functional properties of pea protein isolate (PPI). HHP was combined with various temperature and pH conditions to investigate the combined effects of HHP-based food processing conditions on the functional properties of PPI. Herein, PPI solutions prepared at different pH conditions (3.0, 5.0, and 7.0) were subjected to 300, 400, and 500 MPa HHP treatment at 25 and 50°C for 5 min. Water-holding capacity (WHC), solubility, and emul...
Investigation of key-hole weldability of line pipe steel grade x70m in terms of fracture toughness
Çağırıcı, Mehmet; Gür, Cemil Hakan; Yurtışık, Koray; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2017)
Micro-alloyed and thermomechanically rolled HSLA line pipe steels promise optimum strength and toughness. Their microstructure contains generally globular and acicular ferrite. However, the heat induced by welding during line pipe fabrication alters the microstructure at the proximity of the fusion zone which affects indirectly microstructure of the heat affected zone, consequently the fracture toughness, is governed by the chemistry of the material and the thermal cycles during the welding process. In fabr...
