Short-term statistics of wind waves around the Turkish coast
Akbaşoğlu, Sinan; Özhan, Erdal; Department of Civil Engineering (2004)
In this thesis, the wind-wave records obtained at three locations along the Turkish coasts (Alanya, Dalaman and Hopa) are analyzed. Probability distributions of individual wave characteristics (wave height, wave period and wave steepness) are obtained and compared with the model distributions. Goodness of fit of the observed distributions is checked by Chi-square test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests. Joint probability distribution of individual wave heights and periods is also studied and compared with the the...
Long-term measurements of aerosol optical and physical properties over the Eastern Mediterranean: Hygroscopic nature and source regions
Tutsak, Ersin; Koçak, Mustafa (2019-06-15)
Long-term aerosol optical and physical properties such as aerosol optical thickness and angstrom exponent were obtained from AERONET ground based sun sky radiometer located at the rural coastal Erdemli (36.6 degrees N, 34.3 degrees E) site in the Eastern Mediterranean from January 2000 to December 2014. Aerosol Optical Thickness (AOT) and Angstrom Exponent (alpha) exhibited a great short-term variability, varying up to couple of fold from day to day. The lowest AOT values was found in winter due to the remo...
Short-term consolidation of information for episodic memory
Özçelik, Erol; Tekman, Hasan Gürkan; Department of Cognitive Sciences (2008)
Several lines of evidence from rapid serial visual presentation, attentional blink, and dual-task interference phenomena propose that human beings have a significant limitation on the short-term consolidation process. Short-term consolidation is transferring early representations to more durable forms of memory. Although previous research has shown that masks presented after targets interrupt the consolidation process of information, there is not enough evidence for the role of attention in consolidation fo...
Short-range form of the charge distribution of4He and its charge form factor
Lodhi, M. A. K.; Ray, A. K.; Yalçın, C (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1989-2)
We discuss the influence of the short-range correlation on the charge distribution and elastic charge from factor of4He and present the numerical results. The charge density oscillates at the centre of the nucleus as higher-order terms from the cluster expansion are included. The second minimum and the third maximum are produced in the charge form factor with the fully correlated wave function or when sufficiently higher-order terms are included in the calculations.
A comparison of TSTD and STBCs over block-fading and time-varying MISO channels
Köken, Erman; Yılmaz, Ali Özgür (2012-08-01)
This paper presents a comparison between two transmit diversity schemes, namely space-time coding and time-switched transmit diversity (TSTD) over block-fading and time-varying multi-input single-output (MISO) channels with various channel parameters. The schemes are concatenated with outer channel codes in order to achieve spatio-temporal diversity. The analytical results are derived for the error performances of the systems and simulation results as well as outage probabilities are provided. It is demonst...
