Al-Ge eutectic bonding for wafer-level vacuum packaging of MEMS devices
Dimez, Bekir Gürel; Kalay, Yunus Eren; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2022-8)
Packaging is one of the most critical processes regarding the commercialization of MEMS devices. Wafer-level packaging is both yield and cost-efficient compared to die-level packaging. Various MEMS-based devices require vacuum encapsulation, such as microbolometers and resonators. Among other bonding methods and alloy systems used for wafer-level packaging, the Al-Ge system is advantageous since it can bond wafers by coating all the metallic layers on a single wafer. This eliminates the need for additional ...
AlCl3 Catalyzed Oxo-Diels-Alder and Wittig-Type Reaction of 2,3-Dimethyl-1,3-Butadiene With Acyl Phosphonates
Nadeem, S.; Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı (Informa UK Limited, 2014-11-02)
Different aliphatic and aromatic acyl phosphonates were synthesized using Arbuzov reaction and subjected to Oxo-Diels-Alder (ODA) reaction with 2,3-dimethyl-1,3-butadiene at -78 degrees C. AlCl3 was found the best catalyst to obtain the desired ODA products from acyl phosphonates in only 30min at low temperature, as compared to 100 degrees C-previously reported. The same reaction was repeated at room temperature but, instead of ODA, Wittig-type product was obtained. All the products were characterized by NM...
Al3+ doped nano-hydroxyapatites and their sintering characteristics
Evis, Zafer (Ceramic Society of Japan, 2006-11-01)
Pure and Al3+ doped nano-hydroxyapatites (HA) were synthesized by a precipitation method to investigate their densification and thermal stability after the air sintering at 1100 degrees C and 1300 degrees C. Second phases were formed after increasing the All, content from 2.5% to 7.5% in HA and increasing the sintering temperature from 1100 degrees C to 1300 degrees C. Al3+ addition into HA resulted in change in the hexagonal lattice parameters from the pure HA. When the sintering temperature was increased ...
Alumina and Tungstophosphoric Acid Loaded Mesoporous Catalysts for the Polyethylene Degradation Reaction
Aydemir, Bugce; Sezgi, Naime Aslı (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2013-11-06)
Polyethylene degradation over alumina and tungstophosphoric acid (TPA) containing ordered mesoporous catalysts was studied in a semibatch reactor. In the noncatalytic degradation reaction, selectivity of C-3 and C-4 hydrocarbons was quite high. However, significant ethylene and C-4 hydrocarbon selectivity was observed in the catalytic degradation reaction depending on the type of catalyst used. Liquid product distribution in the noncatalytic degradation reaction indicated the presence of hydrocarbons, being...
Al-Sm Alloys Under Far-From-Equilibrium Conditions
Kaygusuz, Burçin; Okuyucu, Can; Işıksaçan, Cemil; Meydanoğlu, Onur; Motallebzadeh, Amir; Özerinç, Sezer; Kalay, Yunus Eren (2021-01-01)
Traditional Al alloys have shown tremendous potential in the aerospace industry due to their attractive properties such as ductility, fracture toughness, and fatigue resistance. However, modern aerospace applications call for next-generation Al alloys with a stringent combination of properties such as high strength, low density, and excellent environmental stability. In that sense, we studied highly driven Al-Rare-Earth (RE) alloys under far-from-equilibrium conditions to investigate the possible effects of...
