The first of the Traditional Eymir Lake Festival and The Traditional Tree Planting Festival, which gained Ankara the METU Forest, were held in 1961. In every year in the spring, tree planting, volleyball matches, free fishing competitions, as well as rowing and swimming races were held in the boathouse built by the lake. The photographs show Rector Kemal Kurdaş, academicians, administrative staff and students participating in these multi-colored cultural and sports activities in the 1963’s Lake Festival, documented by the shooting team of the Directorate General of Press and Information.
