The METU Confucius Institute is the first of its kind in Türkiye. It operates under the partnership of Middle East Technical University, Office of Chinese Language Council International (HANBAN), and Xiamen University (China), with the help of the Chinese Embassy in Ankara. The METU Confucius Institute was inaugurated on November 28th, 2008. METU Confucius Institute reports to the METU President's Office. Its Administrative Board consists of 6 Turkish and Chinese professors, and it is directed by one Chinese and one Turkish director. In addition, the staff includes an assistant to the directors, teachers of Chinese and part-time student employees.
