A new method of calculating the receptances of a structure subjected to structural modi-fication is presented. In this method, theoretically calculated or experimentally measured frequency response functions (FRFs) are used in determining the FRFs of the modified structure. Structural modifications may be in the form of additional structural compo-nents that may be expressed in terms of additional mass, stiffness and damping matrices or simply in terms of the experimentally measured receptance matrix of the modifying structure. The computational time is drastically reduced in this new technique while keeping the advantage of being an exact method.
