The purpose of this study is to examine preschool teachers’ views and practices of movement education in relation to Ecological Systems Theory. Twenty preschool teachers working in public and private schools in three main districts of Ankara, Türkiye were included in the study. Ten of the preschool teachers were working in private schools, and ten of them were working in public schools. A qualitative phenomenological study was conducted, and the data was collected through three data collection instruments. After the Demographic Information Form was applied, semi-structured interview questions were asked to the participants in order to gain an in-depth understanding of the preschool teachers’ views on the implementation of movement in their classrooms. Content analysis was used to identify, code, and categorize interview data and to follow primary patterns in the data. The interview data were analyzed using the MAXQDA 2022 software. The Physical Environment and Material Checklist was applied to examine the physical conditions in each school which might have an impact on the teachers’ movement education practices. In addition, written course contents for movement education, which were prepared in line with the early childhood education curriculum and developed within the scope of the program, mission/visions of schools, monthly plans, daily schedules, and activity plans supporting movement were collected, reviewed and analyzed by document analysis method. The study results identified the factors affecting the views and practices of preschool teachers for intrapersonal, interpersonal, institutional, community, and policy components within the framework of Ecological Systems Theory.
