The present study aimed to investigate how school attachment varies across Türkiye based on student-level (gender, grade-level) and school-level (school-level, school type, middle school-type, high school-type, settlement-type) characteristics. This study is part of a nationally representative project and includes 6187 students ranging from 1st to 11th grade from 186 schools in 61 cities in Türkiye. School attachment was assessed using Hill's (2006) brief version of the School Attachment Scale. The data was analyzed using two-way ANOVAs. Results indicated that girls had higher levels of school attachment than boys. Also, as grade-level and school-level increased, there was a corresponding decrease in students’ school attachment. While there was no difference between private and public schools in terms of school attachment, it was found that students in regional boarding middle schools had the lowest levels of school attachment compared to students in other types of middle schools. Besides, it was found that students in fine arts high schools had higher levels of school attachment compared to students in Anatolian, science, religious, vocational and technical high schools. Lastly, school attachment was higher in rural middle schools compared to urban middle schools. The findings of the study broaden our understanding of which specific groups require greater attention to promote their school attachment. The findings were discussed together with the strengths, contributions, limitations, and future directions of the study considering relevant literature.
