Humor is seen as an effective tool for different aspects of people’s lives. Like adults, children have the ability to understand, appreciate, and produce humor, and their humor behaviors also may have an effect on their development, learning, and well-being. On the other hand, differences in humor behaviors and preferences can also have different outcomes, both positive and negative. Considering humor’s importance starting in the early years, learning about children’s humor behaviors becomes a necessity. In addition, even if there are some universal explanations for humor, clarifying through culture-specific explanations may provide a better understanding of children’s humor. From this point, developing a reliable and valid measurement tool creates the main purpose of this study. Thus, the aim of the study is to develop a pictorial humor styles scale for children which may enable researchers to learn about young children’s humor styles by taking their own responses. To reach this aim, scale development procedures were applied in the light of the Humor Styles Model. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted in the scale development process. Because of children’s developmental characteristics, pictures were used as scale items. In addition to scale development, quantitative analyses were made with the help of children’s demographics. To have a deeper understanding of children’s humor patterns, cluster analyses were made. As a result of the data analyses, the findings are provided in accordance with the research questions, and they are discussed with the help of the related literature.
