The World has faced an unexpected global crisis starting from November 2019 called COVID- 19 pandemic and it started to affect all daily activities including educational institutions. In most of the countries, there has been a shift to online or hybrid educational practices at all levels including English preparatory schools of universities. This crisis required educational leaders to convert education practices into an online environment by making decisions and applying changes in a short time in order to continue the teaching and learning process. This case study is held at a large state university’s preparatory school in Turkey, which is called Çetin University. The purpose of the study is to reflect observations and opinions of the teachers and administrators who have managed the process and witnessed this transition to emergency remote education (ERT) to reveal some lessons to take in terms of leadership and management when such a crisis repeats concerning higher education institutions. It is a qualitative study that employs semi structured interviews aiming to shed light on how exactly transitioning to ERT was managed, what administrators and teachers have experienced and possible implications of these experiences. The participants are administrators in different units of the school such as administrative unit, research and development unit, testing and assessment unit, and professional development unit. In addition to them, the rest of the participants are teachers who have only teaching duties as well as pure witnesses of this instant shift, decisions made and their effects. The interviews have been conducted on the Zoom platform.
