Control of the thickness distribution of evaporated functional electroceramic NTC thermistor thin films
Schmidt, R.; Parlak, Mehmet; Brinkman, Am (Elsevier BV, 2008-04-01)
In this work the thickness distribution of NTC thermistor thin films produced by low deposition rate (0.8 nm s(-1)) electron-beam evaporation is investigated. The target preparation, deposition conditions and geometrical set-up of the evaporation mechanism are described in detail. The evaporation geometry is shown to be critical for the thickness distribution of evaporated films. The film thickness distribution of evaporated layers was measured across a macroscopic film surface using Alpha Step stylus profi...
Control of Flow Structure on Non Slender Delta Wing Bio inspired Edge Modifications Passive Bleeding and Pulsed Blowing
Yavuz, Mehmet Metin; Çetin, Cenk (null; 2016-11-22)
In the present study, different flow control approaches including bio-inspired edge modifications, passive bleeding, and pulsed blowing are introduced and applied for the flow over non-slender delta wing. Experiments are conducted in a low speed wind tunnel for a 45 degree swept delta wing using qualitative and quantitative measurement techniques including laser illuminated smoke visualization, particle image velocimety (PIV), and surface pressure measurements. For the bio-inspired edge modifications, the e...
Optimization of conditions in sulfuric acid leaching of Turkish chromite concentrates
Ustaoğlu, Emre; Geveci, Ahmet; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2006)
In this thesis work, a high grade chromite concentrate obtained from Pınarbaşı, Kayseri region of Turkey was reacted with sulfuric acid solution to determine the optimum conditions of leaching of chromite ores. Conventional methods for producing chromium are still valid in industry. The main process in production includes soda melting and taking it into solution in the form of chemical compounds such as sodium dichromate. Three and six valence states of chromium have importance in production. Trivalent chro...
Controlling and modelling of twin induced strain localization in rolling of magnesium AZ31
İsmail, Kübra; Efe, Mert; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2019)
Formability of AZ31 Magnesium alloy has certain limits below 200 ℃ and depends strongly on temperature, due to the strain localization and shear banding associated with the twinning activity. In this thesis, magnesium sheets with basal, off-basal (90° tilted) and mixed (50% basal + 50% off-basal) textures are rolled between room temperature and 165 ℃ to understand and control the twinning-induced localizations. By increasing strain from 0.1 to 0.6 and raising the temperature, the fraction of flow localized ...
Control of Planar Spring-Mass Running Through Virtual Tuning of Radial Leg Damping
Secer, Gorkem; Saranlı, Uluç (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2018-10-01)
Existing research on dynamically capable legged robots, particularly those based on spring-mass models, generally considers improving in isolation either the stability and control accuracy on the rough terrain, or the energetic efficiency in steady state. In this paper, we propose a new method to address both, based on the hierarchical embedding of a simple spring-loaded inverted pendulum (SLIP) template model with a tunable radial damping coefficient into a realistic leg structure with series-elastic actua...
