Selective shear flocculation of chromite from chromite-serpentine mixtures
Akdemir, U; Hicyilmaz, C (1998-01-15)
In this study, shear flocculation of chromite from mixtures of chromite and serpentine was investigated. The effects of zeta potential, contact angle, stirrer speed, flocculation (stirring) time, settling time and concentration of sodium oleate, Na2SiO3 and Na2SiF6 were tested. Control of zeta potential was the key factor for selective aggregation. Experiments carried out at optimum conditions yielded a concentrate (settled material) assaying 44.6% Cr2O3 with a recovery of 81.0% and selectivity index of 9.7...
SELECTIVE PRECONCENTRATION OF ARSENITE ON MERCAPTO-MODIFIED SILICA-GEL
HOWARD, AG; Volkan, Mürvet; Ataman, Osman Yavuz (1987-02-01)
A surface-modified silica gel has been developed for the pre-concentration of arsenite from natural waters. The reaction of silica gel with (3-mercaptopropyl)trimethoxysilane produces a mercapto-modified silica gel with a silver capacity of ca. 0.9 mmol g–1. This material selectively removes arsenite from samples that also contain arsenate, monomethylarsonate and dimethylarsinate, and can be employed for both the column and batch pre-concentration of arsenite. Under column and batch conditions recoveries of...
Selective Preconcentration of Gold from Ore Samples
Refiker, Hurmus; Merdivan, Melek; Aygun, Ruveyde Sezer (Hindawi Limited, 2018-9-12)
A simple and selective method has been developed for preconcentration of gold in ore samples. The method is based on use of N, N-diethyl-N’-benzoylthiourea (DEBT) as selective chelating agent and Amberlite XAD-16 as solid sorbent. Sorption behavior of gold with DEBT impregnated resin under optimized conditions has been studied in batch process. The gold ion capacity of the impregnated resin is calculated as 33.48 mg g−1 resin (0.17 mmol g−1 resin). The selective pre...
Selective mercury uptake by polymer supported hydroxyethyl sulfonamides
Oktar, Ceren; Yılmaz, Levent; Ozbelge, H. Onder; Bicak, Niyazi (Elsevier BV, 2008-04-01)
Hydroxyethyl sulfonamide function supported on styrene-divinyl benzene (9% mol/mol) bead resin is presented as mercury selective reagent. The resin product with 3.49 mmol g(-1) of 2-hydroxyethyl sulfonamide content removes reasonable quantities of mercuric ions (0.83-1.64 mmol g(-1)) from aqueous solutions of HgCl2, Hg (CH3COO)(2) and Hg (NO3)(2), in non-buffered conditions. Experiments showed that, the resin is able to extract mercury selectively, in the presence of foreign ions such as Zn(II), Cd(II), Fe(...
