This thesis defines a new lens for university space regarding both what it is -spatial existence- and how it is produced -spatial knowledge- through a retrospective inquiry. It problematizes the reality of university space by adopting the notion of deterritorialization corresponding to the fact that university space's discursive ground has been shaken. It claims that the deterritorialization of university space is based on the understanding that stems from the separation of subject and object. In this respect, it proposes a threefold lens consisting of sociomaterial stances as new materialisms, new geographies, and Pierre Bourdieu’s concepts to overcome subject-object duality. That conceptual lens originated from the intricate nature of discursive territory, is crucial in developing an approach ontologically and epistemologically regarding the university space. Through this lens, it reterritorializes university space by engaging in a dialogue with the specific eras -ranging from the 1960s to 1990s- which share common features with the current era. The onto-epistemological stance has the potency to include multiple possible diverse patterns of university space on the way of reterritorialization.
