A study on flexural strength of layered al-sic composites produced by powder metallurgy methods

A comparative study on the efficiencies of polyethylene compatibilizers by using theoretical methods
Yıldırım, Erol (2012-01-01)
Functionalization of polyethylene chains by grafting of polar groups onto backbones is the most versatile way for preparing polyethylene based compatibilizers (PECs). In this work, a series of theoretical studies were performed to analyze the structure, adhesion and mixing behaviors of PECs. The effect of grafting different polar groups such as acrylic acid (AA), glycidyl methacrylate (GMA), maleic anhydride (MAH) and itaconic acid (IA) on the structure and cohesive properties of polyethylene chains were st...
A Study on the tensile strength of compacted Ankara clay and kaolin clay
Dağar, Volkan; Çokça, Erdal; Department of Civil Engineering (2017)
Tensile strength of clay, is a major mechanical parameter and is the main controlling parameter of tensile crack development which is generally encountered in geostructures. The researches to determine the tensile strength of clays are very limited. There are two kinds of methods which are used to measure the tensile strength of soils and these are named as, indirect and direct methods. In this experimental study, a direct tensile test apparatus was developed for measurement and understanding of the tensile...
A study of temeporal characteristics of selected Cataclysmic Variables: The broad-band noise structure between 2-20 kev
Balman, Şölen; Kulebi, B; Beklen, E (2005-09-30)
We present the preliminary analysis of the band-limited noise structure of Cataclysmic Variables (CVs) in the 220 keV energy band. We have currently analyzed Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) PCA data and derived time series from 30 CVs using the RXTE archive. In general, CVs of different types all show broad band noise which can be fitted with power laws, using exponential cut-offs, and Lorenzians in a similar way to power spectral (noise) characteristics of X-ray Binaries (XRBs). In general terms the pow...
A Study on the catalytic pyrolysis and combustion characteristics of Turkish lignite and co-processing effects with biomass under various ambient conditions
Abbasi Atibeh, Ehsan; Yozgatlıgil, Ahmet; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2012)
In this study the catalytic pyrolysis and combustion characteristics of Turkish coal samples in O2/N2 and O2/CO2 (oxy-fuel conditions) ambient conditions were explored and the evolution of emissions during these tests was investigated using non-isothermal Thermo-gravimetric Analysis (TGA) technique combined with Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Potassium carbonate (K2CO3), calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2), iron (III) oxide (Fe2O3) and iron (III) chloride (FeCl3) were employed as precursors of cata...
