Characterization of iron oxide thin films prepared by sol-gel processing
Karakuscu, Aylin; Ozenbas, Macit (American Scientific Publishers, 2008-02-01)
Iron oxide thin films were prepared by spin-coating a gel solution of iron(III) nitrate dissolved in 2-methoxyethanol and acetylacetone on glass and quartz substrates. The film thickness was adjusted by changing the spinning rate of the spin coater, Annealing was carried out between 300 degrees C to 600 degrees C to investigate the phases present in the films. Viscosity of the main solution was found as 0.0035 Pa (.) s by viscosity measurement. TGA/DTA analyses showed that heat treatment should be done betw...

Characterization of CuIn0.7Ga0.3Se2 Thin Films Deposited by Single Stage Thermal Evaporation Process
Karaağaç, Hakan; Peksu, Elif; Behzad, Hamed; Akgoz, Sare; Parlak, Mehmet (2017-05-26)
Single phase CuIn0.7Ga0.3Se2 (CIGS) thin films are successfully deposited on glass substrates via a single stage thermal evaporation from a stoichiometric powder of CIGS. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements reveal the existence of Cu- and Ga-rich surface of the as-grown CIGS thin films. The post-growth annealing process lead to migration of the metallic atoms from the surface region into the bulk during the crystallization process, which subsequently causes a significant reduction in the reflectio...
Characterization of maghemite thin films prepared by sol-gel processing
Karakuşçu, Aylin; Özenbaş, Ahmet Macit; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2006)
In this study, maghemite (γ-Fe2O3) thin films were prepared by chemical solution deposition on glass and quartz substrates. The solution was prepared by using 0.3 M iron (III) nitrate [Fe(NO3)3 - 9H2O] as precursor and dissolved in a mixture of 2-methoxyethanol and acetylacetone in a molar ratio of 20:2, by stirring the solution at RT for 2 hours. Substrates were prepared by either piranha etching method or ultrasonic cleaning method. The solution was spin coated on glass and quartz substrates at 1400 and 4...
Characterization of serpentine filled polypropylene
Can, Semra; Tinçer, Teoman; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2008)
In this study, the aim is to prepare polypropylene (PP)/serpentine composites and study their mechanical, thermal and morphological properties. Another objective is to explore whether it is possible to have PP/serpentine nanocomposites with melt intercalation method by using the advantage of the layer silicate structure of serpentine. The most widely used fillers in PP are talc and mica which belong to the phyllosilicates group of silicate minerals. So far, there has been almost no study employing serpentin...
