Production of amorphous silicon / p-type crystalline silicon heterojunction solar cells by sputtering and PECVD methods
Eygi, Zeynep Deniz; Turan, Raşit; Erçelebi, Ayşe Çiğdem; Department of Physics (2011)
Silicon heterojunction solar cells, a-Si:H/c-Si, are promising technology for future photovoltaic systems. An a-Si:H/c-Si heterojunction solar cell combines the advantages of single crystalline silicon photovoltaic with thin-film technologies. This thesis reports a detailed survey of heterojunction silicon solar cells with p-type wafer fabricated by magnetron sputtering and Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) techniques at low processing temperature. In the first part of this study, magnetron ...
Production of copper-based shape memory alloy using powder metallurgy methods
Ögel, Bilgehan; Dericioğlu, Arcan Fehmi ( Türk Toz Metalurjisi Derneği; 1999-12-01)
A Cu-based shape memory alloy is produced using PM methods. The Cu-16.5Zn-6.5Al alloy is prepared from elemental powders. The production route includes the various combination of sintering, hot pressing and hot rolling. Zinc loss due to evaporation could not be avoided in conventional compaction and sintering route. On the other hand, a homogenization treatment after hot pressing leads to formation of pores in the microstructure. Directly hot rolled specimens after a hot pressing operation showed shape memo...
Production of lightweight aerated alkali-activated slag pastes using hydrogen peroxide
Sahin, Murat; Erdoğan, Sinan Turhan; Bayer, Özgür (Elsevier BV, 2018-08-30)
This study investigated the production of lightweight aerated alkali-activated slag pastes (LAAASP) using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). A mixture of sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate solution was used for the activation of slag. Physical, mechanical, and thermal properties of samples cured under different curing conditions were investigated. Various water-to-slag ratios (W/S) and H2O2 contents were used to explore the expansion mechanism of fresh mixtures and to investigate their effect on apparent density. ...
Production of alumina borosilicate ceramic nanofibers by using electrospinning technique and its characterization
Tanrıverdi, Senem; Gündüz, Güngör; Department of Chemical Engineering (2006)
Today, ceramic, polymer, and composite nanofibers are among the most charming materials for nanotechnology. Because of their small characteristic dimension, high surface area, and microstructural features, they provide unique mechanical, optical, electronic, magnetic, and chemical properties for an extensive variety of materials applications. Electrospinning provides an effective way of the nanofiber production in a nanometer scale. This technique utilizes a high voltage DC to create a strong electric field...
Production of Nanoporous Glass Fiber by Selective Leaching Method
Ertuş, Emre Burak; Vakıfahmetoğlu, Çekdar; Öztürk, Abdullah (2016-12-01)
A glass of composition 4.8Na 2 O-25.2B 2 O 3-70SiO 2 was produced by melting silica, boric acid, and sodium carbonate mixture at about 1600 °C. Sodium borosilicate glass fiber was drawn while the glass melt was cooling to room temperature. The fiber sample was heat treated to provide spinodial decomposition and phase separation at 600 °C for 6 h. Also, a bulk glass piece was fabricated from the same chemical composition. The soluble alkali rich borate phase was removed by acid leaching process with hot dilu...
