Adaptive control augmentation can be used for the controller design of air vehicles, eliminating the need for a detailed design process and accurate model data. This paper presents the application of the L1 adaptive control augmentation system to a baseline autopilot of a missile, which is designed with dynamic model inversion at a single flight condition. The output redefinition approach is used in the inversion process of the non-minimum phase transfer functions. The resulting controllers are examined through high fidelity, nonlinear, 6 D.o.F. simulations. © 2010 IFAC.
