Construction of an acetylcholinesterase-choline oxidase biosensor for aldicarb determination
Kok, FN; Bozoglu, F; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat (2000-09-22)
Biosensors have increasingly attracted attention in several areas due to their various advantages over conventional analytical techniques. They are currently used in the detection of various substances in medicine, in the control of industrial processes, in agriculture, environmental monitoring, and defence. Detection of the pesticides in environmental samples is an important concern due to the high toxicity of these compounds. Biosensors; are good alternatives for chromatographic methods in pesticide detec...
Construction of an acetylcholinesterase-choline oxidase biosensor for aldicarb determination
Kok, FN; Bozoglu, F; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat (2002-06-01)
In this study, acetylcholinesterase and choline oxidase were co-immobilized on poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) membranes and the change in oxygen consumption upon aldicarb introduction was measured. Immobilization of the enzymes was achieved either by entrapment or by surface attachment via a hybrid immobilization method including epichlorohydrin and Cibacron Blue F36A activation. Immobilized enzymes had a long-storage stability (only 15% activity decrease in 2 months in wet storage and no activity loss i...
Construction of a patterned hydrogelfibrous mat bilayer structure to mimic choroid and Bruch's membrane layers of retina
Komez, Aylin; Baran, Erkan T.; Erdem, Uzeyir; Hasırcı, Nesrin; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat (2016-09-01)
Deterioration of retina and death of the retinal cells due to age, diabetes, or occlusion can cause retinal degeneration which leads to loss of vision. In this study, it is aimed to design a bilayered matrix to mimic the choroid and the Bruch's membrane of the retinal tissue. As choroid, a microchanneled network resembling a fractal tree design was fabricated by photolithography over photo-cross-linkable methacrylated hyaluronic acid hydrogel. Gelatin or collagen was immobilized into the microchannels to en...
Construction and in vitro testing of a multilayered, tissue-engineered meniscus
Bahcecioglu, Gokhan; Buyuksungur, Arda; Kızıltay, Aysel; Hasırcı, Nesrin; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat (2014-05-01)
A novel three-dimensional construct was designed to serve as a substitute for the natural meniscus tissue, and tested in vitro. The design consisted of mats of aligned collagen micro/nanofibers, entrapped within a macroporous poly(l-lactic acid)/poly(lactic acid-co-glycolic acid) foam coated with Ca+2-cross-linked alginic acid. Fibrochondrocytes derived from human meniscus were tested in vitro to study cell attachment and proliferation. After a 21-day culture, the cells populating the constructs were shown ...
