How critical is critical international relations theory? Modernity versus postmodernity as a false antithesis

1994
Keyman, E. Fuat
The overall aim of this paper is to deal with what has come to be known as "the critical turn in international relations theory". In doing so, the paper points out the relative merit and pitfalls of the discourses that constituted the critical turn, namely those of critical theory and postmodernism. The paper concludes by making a call for theoretical pluralism without foundations as a way of constructing a dialogical interaction within international relations theory.
