Nonlinear dynamic analysis of a drivetrain composed of cylindrical gears, straight and spiral bevel gears
Yavuz, Şiar Deniz; Ciğeroğlu, Ender; Sarıbay, Zihni Burçay; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2018)
A nonlinear dynamic model of a drivetrain composed of spur, helical and spiral bevel gears is proposed. Gear shafts are modeled by using Timoshenko beam finite element method and mesh models of gear pairs are used to couple them. Dynamic model includes the flexibilities of bearings as well. Gear backlash and time variation of mesh stiffness are incorporated into the mesh model. Harmonic Balance Method (HBM) with multiple harmonics is applied on the system of nonlinear differential equations in order to obta...
Nonlinear dynamics of spiral bevel gear pair
Önal, Birkan; Ciğeroğlu, Ender; Sarıbay, Zihni Burçay; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2018)
Nonlinear dynamics of a generic spiral bevel gear pair used in high speed, high power gearboxes is studied in this thesis. Different tooth ease-off topographies are generated based on real machine settings. Tooth micro geometries are established in order to obtain profile crowning, lengthwise crowning and flank twist topographies. Details of macro and micro geometry and corresponding real machine settings are given in this study. Path of contact, contact stress, directional rotation radius, load share, unlo...
Evaluation of pushover analysis procedures for frame structure
Oğuz, Sermin; Yakut, Ahmet; Department of Civil Engineering (2005)
Pushover analysis involves certain approximations and simplifications that some amount of variation is always expected to exist in seismic demand prediction of pushover analysis. In literature, some improved pushover procedures have been proposed to overcome the certain limitations of traditional pushover procedures. The effects and the accuracy of invariant lateral load patterns utilised in pushover analysis to predict the behavior imposed on the structure due to randomly selected individual ground motions...
Estimation of the user's cognitive load while interacting with the interface based on bayesian network
Saydam, Aysun; Barbaros, Yet; Department of Cognitive Science (2021-9-10)
The complexity of human machine interfaces is increasing significantly in parallel with the development of technology and excessive data growth, but human cognitive capacity is limited. Therefore, measuring cognitive load is one of the most preferential and common ways to test the usability of user interfaces. There are many different physiological, behavioral and subjective methods to measure human performance and workload. Moreover, there are cognitive predictive models and many related applications based...
Analysis of three block cipher based hash functions : Whirpool, Grøstl and Grindahl
Ismailova, Rita; Diker Yücel, Melek; Department of Cryptography (2012)
The subject of this thesis is the study of cryptographic hash functions, which utilize block ciphers as underlying chain functions. It is mainly concerned with the analysis of the three hash algorithms, the Whirlpool, Grøstl and Grindahl. All these hash functions have underlying block ciphers that are modified versions of the Advance Encryption Standard and we investigate the behavior of these block ciphers under the integral attack. Statistical tests, such as the avalanche test and the collision test, are ...
