Studies that have investigated the relationship between economic growth and trade, have mostly concentrated on developing countries for which the data are readily available. Turkey has received very little attention on this regard. In this paper we employ cointegration and error-correction modelling techniques along with annual data over 1923-1990 to show that there is a long-run relationship between Turkish exports and her domestic production. The error-correction results provide evidence supporting bi-directional causality between the two variables.
