The Çubuklu prospect is situated within the Yahyalı Nappe of the Taurides in Central Anatolia. At Çubuklu, Paleozoic-Mesozoic carbonate rocks have been intruded by the Eocene Karamadazı Granitoid, which resulted in formation of distinct intrusion-related mineralization styles. The NE part of the study area comprises porphyry Cu-Mo mineralization centered around a granodiorite porphyry intrusion. Porphyry mineralization is observed in a narrow zone of potassic alteration comprising secondary biotite and lesser K-feldspar. Chalcopyrite, molybdenite, and pyrite occurs either as weak disseminations or along sheeted B-type quartz-sulfide veinlets. The adjacent Cu-Fe skarn mineralization extends farther towards SW along narrow dikes and occurs within dolomitic carbonates dominated by magnesian exoskarn comprising forsterite-serpentinite-chlorite-calcite. Rare calcic exoskarn and endoskarn are characterized by garnet-pyroxene-chlorite-epidote-carbonate. The SW part of the study area contains carbonate-replacement Pb-Zn ores, which have been mostly oxidized into secondary Pb-Zn minerals. Where preserved, sulfidic ore contains abundant pyrite alongside sphalerite, chalcopyrite, lesser tetrahedrite, covellite, and galena. Carbonate-replacement ores are best developed in organic-rich carbonate rocks, which have undergone intense dolomitization and silicification. The spatial distribution of mineralization types as well as metal zonation at Çubuklu are mainly controlled by the architecture of the igneous system and the nature of the wall-rocks. Porphyry Cu-Mo mineralization is associated with the core of the igneous complex in the NE, and transitions first into proximal Fe-Cu skarn and later into stratabound Pb-Zn mineralization towards SW. Recognition of a porphyry-system at Çubuklu bears significant importance for porphyry prospectivity for the Karamadazı district, as well as potential porphyry fertility of other Eocene magmatic systems in south Central Anatolia.
