Many reinforced concrete structures are designed with rigid basements for various structural and architectural purposes, such as parking lots, mechanical rooms, storage, soil retaining or shelter. Despite the connection and interaction between the upper and lower portions (basements) of such buildings, their strength, stiffness, and dynamic properties are not identical. The Turkish Building Earthquake Code 2018 specifies four linear methods to analyse such buildings with basements, including two equivalent earthquake loads and two modal analysis methods. In addition, there is a proposed revision for the total structure modal analysis method. Within the scope of this thesis, the six symmetrical reinforced concrete buildings with varying numbers of basements and upper stories that could represent Türkiye's building stock were analysed using code-based linear methods. Then, pushover analysis and nonlinear time history analyses were conducted to observe nonlinear behaviour. The results obtained from the linear and nonlinear analysis were compared based on column internal forces and storey shear forces to evaluate the applicability and consistency of the linear methods.
