Improved oil recovery using alkaline solutions in limestone medium
Turksoy, U; Bağcı, Ali Suat (2000-05-01)
In this study, the effect of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium silicate (NaSiO4) solutions for the improved oil recovery of Garzan (26 API degrees) and Raman (17.2 API degrees) crude oils with variable salinity of the alkaline solutions, and the effect of injection flow rate at the salinity values of the alkaline solutions that yielded maximum oil recovery for both crude oils has been investigated using a one-dimensional unconsolidated limestone reservoir model. As the previous study, the interfacial tensi...
Improved oil recovery application in limestone reservoirs using alkaline solutions
Bagci, S.; Kök, Mustafa Verşan; Turksoy, U. (Informa UK Limited, 2007-09-01)
In this research, the effect of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium silicate (NaSiO4) solutions for the improved oil recovery of Raman crude oil was investigated using a one-dimensional unconsolidated limestone reservoir model. The results of displacement tests showed that sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium silicate (NaSiO4) solutions were not effective on incremental oil recovery. It was also observed that injection flow rate of alkaline solution has minimum effect on Raman crude oil in scope of oil recover...
Improved PEM fuel cell performance with hydrophobic catalyst layers
Avcioglu, Gokce S.; FIÇICILAR, BERKER; Eroğlu, İnci (2018-10-04)
Flooding of catalyst layers is one of the major issues, which effects performance of low temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC). Rendering catalyst layers hydrophobic one may improve the performance of PEMFC depending on Pt percentage in the catalyst and Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) loading on the electrode. In this study, effect of hydrophobicity in catalyst layers on performance has been investigated by comparing performances of membrane electrode assemblies prepared with 48% Pt/C. Ultr...
Improved adhesive properties and bonding performance of HTPB-based polyurethane elastomer by using aziridine type bond promoter
Gercel, BO; Üner, Deniz; Pekel, F; Özkar, Saim (Wiley, 2001-05-02)
The effect of two aziridine-type bond promoters on adhesive and mechanical properties of a hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene-based elastomeric liner used in solid propellant rockets was investigated by varying the concentration to determine the optimum value. The performance of butyleneiminetrimesoylaziridine (BITA) was compared with that of tris[1-2-methylaziridinyl]phosphine oxide (MAPO) in the elastomeric liner of otherwise the same composition. The adhesive performance of the elastomer to the composite ...
IMPROVED DYNAMIC-MODEL OF THE HUMAN KNEE-JOINT AND ITS RESPONSE TO IMPACT LOADING ON THE LOWER LEG
ENGIN, AE; Tümer, Sami Turgut (ASME International, 1993-05-01)
Almost a decade ago, three-dimensional formulation for the dynamic modeling of an articulating human joint was introduced. Two-dimensional version of this fomulation was subsequently applied to the knee joint. However, because of the iterative nature of the solution technique, this model cannot handle impact conditions. In this paper, alternative solution methods are introduced which enable investigation of the response of the human knee to impact loading on the lower leg via an anatomically based model. In...
