Inter-industry wage differentials: An analysis of wages in Turkish manufacturing industry, 1980/1985

This study analyzes inter-industry wage differentials in Turkish manufacturing industry for the years !98() and 1985. After a review of the empirical studies on inter-industry wage differentials, the existence of inter-industry wage differentials in Turkish manufacturing industry is investigated by econometric methods. The study shows the persistence of inter-industry wage differentials in Turkish manufacturing industry, though the reasons behind wage differentials differ in the private and public sectors. The most significant factors behind inter-industry wage differentials in Turkish manufacturing industry are found to be the firm size, capital intensity, the share of administrative workers, productivity, and the level of education.
