A NARRATIVE STUDY ON MICROLEARNING IN THE WORKPLACE: IMPLEMENTING A NEWLY DESIGNED MICROLEARNING BASED ORIENTATION COURSE IN CORPORATE TRAINING

Orientation is a significant component for companies to provide employee retention, engagement, and compliance in the workplace while promoting required knowledge related to corporate culture and recognition of the organizational structure. To achieve expected job standards, the kinds of business culture knowledge and procedures must be followed and completed by a newly hired employee. The study was conducted with employees using a qualitative research method. This study aimed to explore the opinions and experiences of newly hired personnel depending on a newly designed microlearning-based orientation course from the perspectives of Human Resources Department employees. A narrative study was utilized to interpret participants’ stories depending on the experiences of the microlearning-based course and its materials that were designed and developed for the research. Semi-structured interviewing method was used for the analysis. The content analysis method was utilized for analyzing the narratives. The study results indicated that a microlearning-based orientation course benefits newly hired employees in conceptualizing organizational structure and workflow of the job processes within adopting company culture.
