Substitution between unskilled females, males and apprentices in small scale textile firms

1996
Çınar, E. Mine
Elasticities of substitution are calculated between female earnings and inputs in the firm using a Diewert Generalized Leontief cost function. Young apprentices are found to be strong substitutes of female workers when adult male employees are partitioned into family and non-family members. The study uses 1987 crosssection survey data on small scale firms in the textile industry in Istanbul, Turkey.
