Comparative analyses and modelling for regional ecosystems of the Black Sea
Cokacar, T; Ozsoy, E (1997-06-19)
A zero dimensional ecosystem model is applied to the Black Sea to simulate the behaviour of its regional ecosystems. The modelling is guided by the analyses of the seasonal changes of mixed layer depth, nutrients and chlorophyll-a in the model regions, based on the available data in these areas of the Black Sea. Nutrients are continuously supplied to the adjacent coastal area by rivers, and in the other regions, mixed layer nutrient concentrations generally increase by mixing in winter. Despite the scarcity...

The soil-water characteristic curve (SWCC), which defines the relation between soil suction and water content, plays a key role in geotechnical studies of the unsaturated soils. Some researchers such as Brooks & Corey (1968), Van Genuchten (1982) and Fredlund& Xing (1994) have proposed curve fitting equations for SWCC. Fitting equations to the laboratory test data obtained from direct measurement of water content versus changes in matric suction is the most reliable method, but it is expensive and time cons...
Comparative analyses of sustainable campuses as living laboratories for managing environmental quality
Kılkış, Şiir (2017-01-01)
Purpose - Despite an emerging trend in the higher education sector toward sustainable campuses, comparative analyses that span multiple themes across multiple campuses are still limited. The purpose of this paper is to reduce such a gap by comparing universities that are members of the International Sustainable Campus Network across themes that are related to environmental quality.
