Education and economic growth in Turkey 1980-1990: A panel study

In this study an aggregate production function is estimated to study the effect of education on industrial economic growth in Turkey by pooling data across Turkey's 67 provinces over the census years 1980, 1985 and 1990. The educational attainment of the employed workers in industry is found to have a positive and significant effect on industrial output for the period 1980-1990. The marginal effect of average educational attainment is investigated and a threshold effect of éducation starting between four to five years of average educational attainment is found for the industrial sector. The interdependence between education and technology, and education and physical capital is also looked at yielding inconclusive results
