This study analyses the endogenous and exogenous factors which led to a successful conclusion as the Good Friday/Belfast Agreement (1998) in Northern Ireland, ending the period of ethnic violence which claimed more than 3500 lives, which is known as 'The Troubles'. The role of the actors are underlined in this context. The root causes of this conflict, and all the different stages of the conflict, the start and the continuation of the negotiation/peace process and the settlement itself are analysed within the appropriate theoretical framework.
