İstanbul is one of the provinces in Türkiye that will likely experience devastating consequences after a possible earthquake due to population, earthquake hazard, and building stock characteristics. Humans, human psychology, social relationships, and natural and built environments are at risk and vulnerable to earthquakes. Seismic loss estimation studies give people time to take action before the earthquake so that the multidimensional damage will not be severe. The study aims to estimate the seismic loss of İstanbul in physical, economic, and environmental metrics while researching and making assumptions about the available building stock and population data given by the Türkiye Statistical Institute. The additional research and strategic assumptions are due to the datasets' uncertain and missing information. This study includes 1,062,040 buildings in İstanbul to present building stock characteristics regarding the construction year, purpose of usage, number of stories, and structural system. The results reveal the physical damage and loss of the building stock using neighborhood level ground motions from the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority interactive probabilistic earthquake hazard map and fragility curves drawn from the literature. The resulting physical damage associated with consequence functions drawn from the literature demonstrates the extent of economic, and environmental losses.
