In today’s global economy, the linear model of production and consumption has resulted in substantial environmental and social issues, driving a change toward sustainability. Design is critical for promoting sustainable behaviors, particularly in the context of toy consumption. However, the current tendency toward rapid consumption and disposal poses a challenge to efforts focussing on sustainability. This study examines the connection that children between the ages of 10 and 12 establish with their toys to extend the longevity of toys. The study applies a comprehensive approach, including an activity set as a generative and participatory research method to understand how emotional durability and product attachment affect toy consumption. The design research findings and insights present the dimensions of emotional durability and emphasize the importance of design intervention areas for sustainability and child development skills in promoting longterm behaviors among children and families. Finally, the study leads to an improved understanding of sustainable toy design and provides valuable information for designers, educators, and researchers aiming to increase the product lifespan and sustainability.
