Özdemir Akyılmaz

Prof. Dr. Özdemir Akyılmaz was born on 01.05.1944, graduated from METU Civil Engineering Department with a bachelor's degree in 1967, and then completed his doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. Prof. Dr. Özdemir Akyılmaz started his career on 01.03.1968, worked as an assistant at the University of Pennsylvania between 1968-1972, and then served as an Assistant Professor between 1979-1983 and an Associate Professor between 1983-1993 at METU Civil Engineering Department. He received the title of Professor in 1993. took it. He worked as a Transportation Analyst at Ford Bacon & Davis (New York) between 1976 and 1978, and in 1980 he served as the director of the Transportation Research Center. Our teacher, who has been a founding member of the Turkish National Committee on Roads (YTMK) since 25.01.1990, worked as the METU representative between 1996-2001. Prof., whose name is in dozens of theses and articles. Dr. Özdemir Akyılmaz also taught courses in the Transportation and Traffic Engineering branch (CE351 and CE352) in the Department of Civil Engineering. Our valuable professor, who was the manager of the Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Transportation until 17.09.2010, passed away on 04.10.2021.
