After working as a research assistant between 1972-1979, a lecturer between 1979-1986, and an associate professor between 1986-1998 at METU Department of Physics, he received the title of professor in 1998 and retired in 2016. Between 1996 and 2012, he served as Deputy Head of METU Physics Department. He also served as METU GVO Board Member between 2000-2009. He took an active role in the establishment of Solid State Physics research laboratories in the Department of Physics. He coached Physics Olympic Teams for many years. As one of the General Directors of the 32nd Physics Olympiad held in Turkey, he made great efforts in the successful completion of the Olympics. He took an active role in the establishment of Physics Education laboratories on the Northern Cyprus Campus and the start of education in a very short time.
