The paper attempts to develop a simple and practical mcthod to estimate price elasticities of export demand, which employs cross- section dara on ex-post export quantities and pıices. Export price elasticities are estimated for 26 selected Turkish agricultuıal com- modities. The estimated price elasticities are tested for stability for three different years, 1984-1986. The findings in general appear to be in Üne with prior expectations both in absolute and ıelative ternıs and are stable över the years studied. The estimated export price elasticities for lemon, apple, melon, pistachio, figs, raisin, green lentil, eggplants and leeks range between 2-5. Elasticities for cotton, peaches, orange, tomato, cumin, red lentil, onion, dıy beans, chick peas and broad beans range between 6-9. Finally, elasticities for hazelnuts, tobacco and cereals are found to be over 9.
