The main economic relarions between Turkey and the European Community are those due to migration of Turkish wor- kers to member coımtries, to capital flows, and imports and ex- ports. After an appraisal of these relations the present article concludes that the effect of more than twenty years of association betvvee< Turkey and ûıe l . C . has been less than spectacular. Attention is briefly given also to the future of the association agree- ment and the prospects of Turkey's entering into the E.C. as a full member. Finally, the consequences of the recent entry of Greece, Portugal and Spain are examined. As the similanty of composition of Greek and Turkish exports is rather high there is a danger that Greece's membership of the E.C. will lead to some trade diversion.
