Inclusion induced anisotropy of short fatigue crack growth in steel
Kaynak, Cevdet; Baker, TJ (Informa UK Limited, 1996-07-01)
In this study, the growth behaviour of short fatigue cracks in En7A steel with a high content of elongated MnS inclusions was investigated by generating and evaluating the short crack data under different loading conditions for the six principal specimen orientations. Short cracks showed a strong anisotropic behaviour in which they grew much faster in the transverse and short transverse orientations than in the longitudinal orientations in all fatigue processes. This was due to the relatively high content o...

Relief-spaces: trans-positions in display environments
Sarıca, Sezin; Savaş Sargın, Ayşen; Department of Architecture (2019)
The aim of this study is to redefine the relationship between the exhibition space and the object on display. With the recognition that architecture of exhibition space has been a renowned problematic in the architectural discourse, this study specifically focuses on the spatial integrity of both the container, the exhibition space, and the content, the object on display. The inquiry is into the possibility of using the visual field of artistic production, “relief”, as a decoder, in order to be able to defi...
Fatigue performance of PVA fibre reinforced cementitious composite overlays
Aleessa Alam, Burhan; Yaman, İsmail Özgür (2019-07-31)
Pavement maintenance and rehabilitation is as much important as the construction work itself. In this scope, applying the correct and efficient repair method is highly critical for economic and technical reasons. Depending on the damage level, many alternative repair methods exist. Using an overlay is one common method, where a new layer can be directly applied over or replace the top part of an existing pavement. This overlay can be made from asphalt or concrete as well. With the advances in the concrete t...
