Production of high carbon ferromanganese from a manganese ore located in Erzincan
Çardaklı, İsmail Seçkin; Sevinç, Naci; Öztürk, Tayfur; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2010)
Main purpose of this study was to investigate the production of high carbon ferromanganese by smelting a manganese ore located in Erzincan. Time, charge basicity, fluorspar addition and coke to ore weight ratio were used as experimental variables. After characterization of the ore, a mixture of 100 grams of uncalcined manganese ore and carefully weighed amounts of coke powder, lime, fluorspar and scrap iron were put into a conical graphite crucible. The graphite crucible with its contents was covered with a...
PRODUCTION OF CRUDE FERRONICKEL FROM SIVRIHISAR LATERITE ORES OF TURKEY
KESKİNKILIÇ, ENDER; Pournaderi, Saeid; Geveci, Ahmet; Topkaya, Yavuz Ali (2013-03-07)
In the current work, laboratory-scale smelting experiments were conducted using Sivrihisar laterites (1.26% Ni). The ore samples previously subjected to drying, calcination and prereduction stages were smelted in alumina crucibles in a horizontal tube furnace under argon atmosphere. For the smelting system used in the present work, 1550 degrees C and 40 minutes were determined to be the optimum smelting temperature and time, respectively. 25% excess coal addition in prereduction stage was reported to be cru...

Production of ammonium nitrohumate from Elbistan lignite and its use as a coal binder
Yildirim, M; Ozbayoglu, G (1997-04-01)
The conversion of Elbistan lignite into nitrogen-rich, alkali-soluble humic acid (ammonium nitrohumate) and its use as a coal binder were investigated. The optimum conditions for nitric acid oxidation and ammoniation were determined. The optimum HNO3 concentration was determined as 4.87 wt%. As a result, a humic acid solution containing 10.75 wt% nitrogen was obtained with 88.2 wt% recovery from Elbistan lignite. Coal-derived humic acid was used as a binder in briquetting of Tuncbilek lignite fines. It was ...
