AMORPHOUS-TO-CRYSTALLINE TRANSITION OF SELENIUM THIN-FILMS DEPOSITED ONTO ALUMINUM SUBSTRATES
Özenbaş, Ahmet Macit (Elsevier BV, 1990-01-01)
The crystallization of amorphous selenium (a-Se) films prepared by vacuum deposition at < 10−5torr onto aluminum substrates at 20°C was examined. The amorphous-to-crystalline transition was obtained by annealing the films between 70–85°C. The crystalline structures resulting from annealing at different temperatures have been identified by SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy). X-ray and TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy) studies revealed that these crystals were of hexagonal structure. The thicknesses of t...
Phase change heat transfer from nano and micro size droplets on a non-flat substrate
Rezaeimoghaddam, Mohamma; Dursunkaya, Zafer; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2019)
Heat transfer via condensation/evaporation is a major contributor to heat removal in numerous engineering applications. When the dimensions of a liquid droplet or film reaches the order of micrometers the shape of the liquid-vapor interface is dominated by the capillary forces and the effect of gravity subsides. As the dimensions of the phase change liquid approaches nanometer size, the interface shape is strongly affected by dispersion effects, predominantly in the neighborhood of the contact line. At the ...
Dielectric properties of fuel oils and their ethanol mixtures investigated by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy
Arık, Enis; Esentürk, Okan; Altan, Hakan; Department of Chemistry (2013)
The purpose of this study is to investigate the dielectric properties of fuel oils and their ethanol mixtures in the THz spectral region. We presented frequency dependent absorption coefficients, refractive indices, and dielectric constants calculated from the measurements of pure and mixtures of fuel oils. As the mixing ratio changes, meaningful shifts were observed in refractive index and absorption coefficient of the mixtures. For pure liquids, we used Debye model which provides a good estimate for the d...
Dielectric Characterization of Imatinib Resistant K562 Leukemia Cells through Electrorotation with 3-D Electrodes
Bahrieh, G.; Koydemir, H. Ceylan; Erdem, Murat; Ozgur, E.; Gündüz, Ufuk; Külah, Haluk (2013-11-06)
This study reports the use of electrorotation (ER) technique within a micro-fabricated device with 3D electrodes for dielectric characterization of Imatinib-resistant K562 (K562/IMA-0.2) human leukemic cells. The ER devices with 3D quadruple electrodes (30 mu m in height) were used in order to eliminate the fringing field effect on the rotation of cells. To induce the rotational moment on the cells, signals in phase quadrature were applied to the triangular electrodes. The rotation of cells measured at the ...
Dielectric and photo-dielectric properties of TlGaSeS crystals
Qasrawi, A. F.; Abu-Zaid, Samah F.; Ghanameh, Salam A.; Hasanlı, Nızamı (2014-05-01)
The room temperature, dark and photo-dielectric properties of the novel crystals TlGaSeS are investigated in the frequency, intensity and biasing voltage having ranges of similar to 1-120 MHz, 14-40 klux and 0-1 V, respectively. The crystals are observed to exhibit a dark high frequency effective dielectric constant value of similar to 10.65 x 10(3) with a quality factor of similar to 8.84 x 10(4) at similar to 120 MHz. The dielectric spectra showed sharp resonance-antiresonance peaks in the frequency range...
