he paper presents some preliminary findings about ihe con- tent analysis of Turkish TV advertising vvith a sex role portrayal perspeetive. For this purpose, two different samples of TV advertis- ing from 1978 and 1988 were compiled and analyzed from a pıııe sex role perspeetive. First, analysis of sex role portrayals in Turkish TV advertising in 1978 and in 1988 were done independently. Second, a comparison of 1978 and 1988 vvas done to identify trends. Finally, findings about Turkish TV advertising were compared against find- ings of similar studies in a number of other countries.
