Erdinç Çakıroğlu

Prof. Dr. Erdinç Çakıroğlu was born on December 3, 1969 in Kars. He received his undergraduate degree from METU Faculty of Education, Department of Science Education (currently the Department of Mathematics and Science Education) between 1987-1992, his master's degree from the same department between 1992-1994, and Indiana University, USA, between 1996-2000. , received his doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Bloomington. He started working as an assistant at METU in 1992. After completing his doctorate, he returned to Turkey and worked as a faculty member at METU since 2000. During his time at METU, he made great contributions to the development of the Faculty of Education, Department of Mathematics and Science Education. He took part in many important national and international projects. He served as the thesis advisor of many master's and doctoral students. In addition, he successfully served as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Education between 2013-2016 and Head of the Department of Mathematics and Science Education between 2020-2023. He added significant value to our university by establishing the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education Application and Research Center (BİLTEMM) at METU in 2015. He contributed to the professional development of teachers by providing many teacher trainings at BİLTEMM, where he was the founding president from September 4, 2015 until his retirement on November 1, 2023. After retiring from METU, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Education at TED University. He took part in teacher training and professional development programs at home and abroad. He carried out various national and international projects for the development of innovative educational practices. He took part in the development of national curriculum. Prof. has articles, book chapters and conference proceedings published nationally and internationally. Dr. Erdinç Çakıroğlu's research and interests include instructional design for primary and secondary school mathematics, STEM education and design-based education research.
