Yavuz Ataman

Yavuz Ataman was born in 1947. He completed his undergraduate education at METU Department of Chemistry in 1970. Master's degree from the University of Cincinnati and Prof. Harry B. Mark, Jr. He received his doctorate degree with his work with. Between 1986 and 1988, he was a visiting scholar at the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cincinnati. He served as Head of the Chemistry Department between 1991-1994 and as Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences between 2002-2008. He worked as an academician at METU for more than 40 years. He served as the president of the Ankara Branch of the Turkish Chemical Association, a member of the Turkish Chemists Association and a member of the Board of Directors of the FEDEK Association. Apart from the field of chemistry, he also worked on literature and music. In 2001, Prof. Dr. "2000-2001 Academic Year METU Educator of the Year Award" from Mustafa Parlar Education and Research Foundation, and "METU award in 2004; "Honorary Member" status from the Turkish Chemical Society in 2006 for his qualified contributions to chemistry; In 2006, he received the "METU Academic Performance Award".
