The synthesis of various novel 2-substituted phenylazo-1,3-indandiones (which are potential dyestuffs) by the Japp-Kligemann coupling reaction is reported. Ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra of the compounds were examined in various solvents and the compounds in solution exhibited azo-hydrazone tautomerism. The effects of various substituents on these equilibria are discussed.

We analyze the effect of postdeposition annealing conditions on both the structure and the created defects in Zn0.90Co0.10O thin films, which deposited on the Si(100) substrates by the radio frequency magnetron sputtering technique using a homemade target. The alpha-oxidation of cyclic derivatives of beta-alkoxy-alpha, beta-unsaturated ketones using manganese (III) acetate in the presence of various carboxylic acids provided a convenient synthesis of 5-acyloxy-3-alkoxy-2-cyclopentenones and 6-acyloxy-3-alkoxy-2-cyclohexenones.

In our research group, chiral bifunctional squaramides with different basic units have been synthesized and evaluated in various asymmetric reactions.
